If you own a Smartphone, you may find yourself wondering how you ever lived without one before. It seems these days like there really is an app for just about anything, and Volvo is proving it with the release of its On Call app for iOS, Android and Windows Smartphones.
This free download from Volvo allows drivers to lock their doors remotely on properly equipped models, locate their parked car using GPS functionality and check oil and fluids levels between routine service appointments.
As if that weren't enough, Volvo is rolling out an update for its lauded app in Europe that adds a new interface as well as a plethora of additional features, many of which we wouldn't be surprised to in a future update for the U.S. version.
Since we know our readers from the greater Columbus area value staying informed, we'll cut right to the chase and fill you in on what the update has to offer:
- Enhanced driving journal: Download information pertaining to any trip you've taken in the last 40 days and extract it into an Excel file.
- Send destination to car: Allows you to plan a route ahead of time and then send it to your car's navigation system (if equipped).
- Honk and flash: Lets you activate the horn and headlights independently to easily identify your car in a busy area.
- Car in motion: Alerts you if the vehicle is in use when you're not in it.
If these sound like the kind of features you'd like to see in the Volvo On Call app, be sure to stay tuned to the Byers Volvo blog.
