Volvo equips the 2023 S90 with an entry-level turbocharged and supercharged 2L four-cylinder engine paired with a 48-volt mild hybrid system. This powerhouse, also known as B6, cranks out an adequate 295 horsepower and 310 lb.-ft of torque. Alternatively, drivers can select the optional T8 powertrain, which combines a turbocharged and supercharged 2L four-cylinder engine and two electric motors to generate 455 horsepower and 523 lb.-ft of torque.
While the B6 powerhouse accelerates from zero to 60 miles per hour in 6.2 seconds, the T8 engine is more powerful and attains the same speed in just 4.6 seconds. Both powertrains pair with an all-wheel drive to take power to all four wheels. They also work with an eight-speed automatic transmission for smooth and quick shifts.
