Volvo and safety go hand-in-hand. It's just fact, everyone. And, it been proven time and time again with the features found on models in our Columbus, Ohio showroom. Now, as we all prepare for a new era of Volvo vehicles, we've learned of some new features that will only keep drivers safer, and confident behind the wheel.

They'll all debut on the 2014 XC90, a vehicle that is slated to have a big redesign and be the first of many new Volvo models to undergo large-scale facelifts. The first is from a technology that already exists on certain cars: Pedestrian Detection. But, it's now capable of keeping us aware of walkers, other cars and obstacles at night. If something is spotted ahead, the XC90 will alert the driver, slow down, and brake to avoid any collision.

Two other accident-prevention features are also on the docket. Both feature steer assist, which will automatically correct any potential of driving off the road, or keep cruising speeds going steady. This is done with road and edge barrier detection and Adaptive Cruise Control. The former feature is designed to keep you on the road bringing you back to the center if you happen to veer off. Adaptive Cruise Control will keep you going with the flow of traffic.

Cool, right?

At Byers Volvo, we can't wait. But, while we do, there are plenty of other new Volvo vehicles in our showroom that have safety and convenience features you'll love. To take a closer look, stop in and see us where we can answer questions and arrange test drives.
