Six decades ago Volvo produced a station wagon called the 445 Duett. The wagon was created to be versatile, and to easily stow away equipment without cramping fellow passengers. And over the past sixty years very little has changed in terms of the versatility and cargo room of a Volvo wagon. However, today's Byers Volvo blog post will be dedicated to honoring the original wagon. Today we will celebrate this piece of Volvo history.
Over time the station wagon has been updated, revitalized and tweaked, transforming into models like the XC60 and upcoming V60. The original 445 Duett did not experience as much of a demand as it was needed for supply. Over the years the model played the role of hearse, ambulance, and cargo van thanks to its unibody chassis that allowed it to be very, very versatile. Fast-forwarding to present day, we have the Scalable Platform Architecture, which drives new Volvo, The SPA will help guide the automaker into a new chapter.
The 445 Duett launched back in the year 1953, and remained in production until 1969. While, it wasn't the longest production lifetime it was most definitely important. Today, drivers from all different walks of life wouldn't even be able to fathom life without their Volvo wagon, hatchback, or SUV. Every Volvo model has the perfect blend of safety and dependability that wows drivers from all over the greater Columbus, Ohio area.
